In fact I am trying to prevent an obviously new programmer from making mistake by assuming they know better what user wants. It's the same for my issue, even more so because text readability is the most important factor in user experience.

Graphics are automatically set to the lowest setting, and the only way to change them is in the code of the game.

Imagine if that was, instead, the graphics of the videogame. Players who know about the mission are familiar with coding and have spent time to look through the game code, which is VERY rare.Players don't even know the mission exists. I, the developer, has not mentioned anything about this. The vast majority of players are expected not to know coding, much less videogame modding.

I say "That's fine, the players can make mods to create that mission." This is what you are saying: for example, I could be making a videogame with missions, but I don't develop one mission. I am trying to make what my user experiences better and high-quality. An inappropriate text size would, more or less, ruin the experience. It is not a GUI made by me, but I add elements such as colours, bold and underlined letters, ASCII art, etc. I may add that my distribution is an executable? It doesn't mess with the computer's settings, only it's own. Most would just think that's what it looks like.

I doubt most people will know how to change the font size, and I doubt more that they would learn how to. They will open the distribution, see the size of the text, and won't use it. Most users I will be distributing to will not be tech-savvy, and may have never opened a terminal in their life. but please don't mess with my/user's system settings If it was your GUI - then it's fine to set font/size, etc. my terminal font and font size are perfectly fine for me. In terminal it will print using the user's settings, e.g. (Jun-02-2020, 08:51 PM)buran Wrote: If user is not happy with the font or font size of their terminal output - they will change it.
